We are a group that is available to anyone who is retired or semi-retired.
We were formed in 2011 by a handful of dedicated members. The membership has grown to 180 members in a very short space of time. We first had our monthly meetings in Greyfriars Church, but as our membership grew we needed to find somewhere larger and so our monthly meetings are now in the Lanark Memorial hall which can accomodate hundreds.
You can join a vibrant crowd of local people. It won't take long for you to make new friends and get involved in something that interests you. Members participate as much, or as little, as they want.
The majority of members live within a 20 mile radius of Lanark. We know the area well.
Our aim is to make life more enjoyable, satisfying, and sociable.
If you are retired or semi-retired you are eligible to join the U3A.
The membership cost is £15 per annum. There may be extra costs for some of the activity groups.
The U3A Committee is there to listen and act on members concerns and aspirations.
If you are interested in joining then download the application form from the Information section.
People join the U3A for lots of different reasons. You have probably completed your working life yet you are still active mentally and physically and you are not ready to settle for "floating" through life, or to just watch afternoon television as the high point of the day. Our U3A has plenty of members that want to chat, learn, or share their lives' experiences.
Your children may have left the nest and you realise this is now your time to meet others or to do all the things that you said you would do. You may have lost your life's partner and realise that you would like more friends and contacts with people who share your experience. Come and join us!
